Combining historical CCC documents, articles, personal letters and journals from the members of what was known as “Roosevelt’s Tree Army,” TREE ARMY: The CCC Project is a new play that explores the process of rebuilding a country. Through researching the lives of the men and women (who they were, why they joined, what they did, where they worked, how they lived and what they left behind), the play investigates and imagines what members of the Corps gained from the experience, what happened when they returned home, and how their legacy resonates with a contemporary America.
